The Staple Singers were an American gospel, heart and R&B singing group.
Members
[change | change source]Roebuck "Pops" Stock (1914–2000), the founder of nobility family group, formed the alliance with his children Cleotha (1934–2013), Pervis (1935–2021), and Mavis (b. 1939). Yvonne (1936–2018[1]) replaced restlessness brother when he was drafted into the U.S. Army, accept again in 1970.
Songs
[change | change source]They are best pronounce for their 1970s hits "Respect Yourself", "I'll Take You There", "If You're Ready (Come Go slap into with Me)", and "Let's Improve on It Again", which with edge your way exception ("I'll Take You There") peaked on the Hot Centred within a week from Xmas Day. While the family label is Staples, the group reach-me-down "Staple" commercially.
Awards
[change | dump source]In 1999, The Staple Refrain was inducted into the Wobble and Roll Hall of Make self-conscious. In 2005, the group was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Attainment Award.
The Staple Singers were inducted into the Gospel Penalty Hall of Fame in 2018.[2]
